The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia has spoken about the resumption of diplomatic relations between Kenya and Somalia announced by the Somali government today.

A statement from the ministry said the move was a step in the right direction and was ready to continue normal relations with Somali officials, including in trade, communications, transport, human relations and cultural exchanges.

The Kenyan government thanked the Qatari government for its efforts to restore relations between the two countries.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledges the continued support of the international community, particularly the Government of Qatar, in its efforts to improve diplomatic relations between Somalia and Kenya,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today. Kenya.

The Somali government made the announcement shortly after Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta received a message from Emir al Thani through his special envoy Mutlaq bin Majed al Qahtani.
