Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has begun a three-day visit to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the invitation of President Felix Tshisekedi.
Uhuru was welcomed by host President Tshisekedi and received a full-fledged national welcome.
Uhuru Kenyatta was received by Foreign Affairs Minister Christophe Lutundula and Kinshasa Governor Gentiny Ngobila Mbala.
Prior to Uhuru’s arrival in Kinshasa, he described his visit as a way to strengthen ties between Kenya and the DRC through trade and people-to-people contacts.
Uhuru’s visit to Congo comes hours after the departure of outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
