Somalia’s Minister of Defense Hassan Hussein Haji and his delegation arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and were welcomed by officials from the Somali embassy in Doha.
The motive has not been disclosed, but there are reports that the Doha government is assisting in the rebuilding of the Somali army and working with the security forces, which is in dire need of the outgoing government.
A statement posted on the website of the Somali Ministry of Defense said that Minister Hassan welcomed the Somali Ambassador to Qatar Abdirizak Farah Ali (Taano) & the military affairs officer at the embassy Gen. Mahboub Hassan Abade.
The Somali defense minister’s delegation is scheduled to meet with military officials from the Doha government to discuss plans to rebuild the country’s armed forces and Qatar’s role.

Qatar is providing a number of construction projects such as the completion of the Mogadishu-Afgoye corridor, the road linking the capital to Jowhar, the capital of Hir-Shabelle region, Hobyo Port and others that have not yet been implemented by the Doha government.
