Ethiopian troops from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) on Friday repulsed Al Shabaab militants attack on their base in Bardere town Southern Somalia.
Military sources said the AMISOM troops foiled the attack following prior intelligence on the offensive.
The attack on the military base located at Dhusamareb airport resulted in a fierce clash that lasted for about 15 minutes, a military man told state media.
The AU forces got intelligence earlier of an impending attack and successfully managed to repulse the militants,” the source said adding the militants suffered casualties.
According to the residents, the the the attack resulted in a fierce clash that lasted for about an hour.
AMISOM has not commented on the attack yet.
